1. The Client List
Watch it on: Netflix

What’s it about?: “The series follows Riley Parks (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who, after her husband abandons her and their children, leaving her in financial debt, accepts work at a day spa in her small Texas town, but refuses when she learns that for some clients the masseuses provide more than massages. But pressed to support her children, she relents and earns extra money through unspecified erotic services. As she deals with her children, her mother, her friends, the girls at the spa, and various men who want to romance her, Riley tries to keep her work in an erotic limbo a secret.” (via Wikipedia)

My thoughts: I really, really, really loved this show. Jennifer Love Hewitt is perfect in her role as Riley. I watched every single one of the episodes in this series and I was super sad when it was over. My boyfriend even enjoyed watching this show with me! I love how there is a positive outlook on sex work in this show.

My rating: 5/5 stars

2. Mistresses
Watch it on: Netflix

What’s it about?: “Based on a popular UK TV series of the same name, this provocative drama follows the scandalous — and steamy — lives of a sassy group of female friends. As the women navigate romantic relationships complete with excitement, betrayal and secrecy, and explore their own boundaries, they turn to each other for support and guidance.” (via Bing)

My thoughts: With a little Desperate Housewives vibe to it; I did enjoy this show for a few seasons. I couldn’t stop watching the first two seasons but it did get a little boring for me. I didn’t end up watching all of the episodes in this series but one day I might–it’s definitely not a priority though. It also saddens me too much that Alyssa Milano is no longer in the cast in the later seasons.

My rating: 3.5/5 stars

3. Nashville
Watch it on: Netflix

What’s it about?: “Set against the backdrop of the Nashville music scene, the new drama revolves around a 40-year-old superstar Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton), whose star begins fading. She is forced to team up with Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) on tour in order to maintain her label’s support for her latest record, whose sales have been underwhelming.” (via Bing)

My thoughts: I really like this show. It’s very addicting. I stopped watching it because I needed to do life, lol. I never got back to it, though, I do wish to finish this series someday. I wasn’t sure I would like it at first since I’m not into Country music at all but I love Hayden Panettiere so I tried it out one day and I was hooked. You don’t have to be a Country fan at all to enjoy this show.

My rating: 5/5 stars

(via IMDb)

4. Runaways
Watch it on: Hulu

What’s it about?: “After discovering their parents are super-villains in disguise, a group of teenagers band together to run away from their homes in order to atone for their parents’ actions and to discover the secrets of their origins.” (via IMDb)

My thoughts: My boyfriend and I love love LOVE this show. We just can not wait for the next season. It’s so interesting and fun but also intense. Did I mention that I just love it?? The group of teenagers chosen for the cast in this show are all so lovable. You are on their side from the beginning.

My rating: 5/5 stars

one tree hill
(via IMDb)

5. One Tree Hill
Watch it on: Hulu

What’s it about?: “Half-brothers Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott trade between kinship and rivalry both on the basketball court and in the hearts of their friends in the small, but not so quiet town of Tree Hill, North Carolina.” (via IMDb)

My thoughts: This will forever be my favorite show. If you haven’t watched it yet, you just NEED to. I know this show is a bit older compared to the other ones on this list and a lot of people have already seen it but I’ve heard enough people tell me they’ve never given One Tree Hill a chance! If you are one of those people…I am telling you now, watch this show! I’ve watched every single episode in this series and I have to hold myself back from watching them over and over again. Honestly, though, boyfriend does not enjoy watching this show…so maybe it’s a girls-only one?

My rating: 5/5 stars

More hour long shows I love but I assume you’ve probably already seen:

  • American Horror Story
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Skins UK
  • Gossip Girl
  • Shameless (minus the last two seasons–I got so sick and tired of Fiona)
  • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
  • Gilmore Girls
  • Bones
  • House

What are you favorite hour long shows to binge-watch on either Netflix or Hulu? Share them with me down below in my comments, I’m always looking for new shows to watch :)!

  1. I like time travel shows. There are 2 seasons of a show called “Travelers” on Netflix. The show centers around a group of people sent back (well their consciousness is sent back into other people’s bodies) to carry out missions to stop a disaster that killed nearly everyone on earth. The actors are awesome and the writing is great. Oh, and yeah, I probably won’t ever watch any of the shows you reviewed. It’s a guy thing. lol

    1. That actually sounds super interesting!! I think I’ll have to add that to my ‘To-Watch’ list. 😀 Thanks for the recommendation! Not ALL of my shows are too girly, lol. You’d probably enjoy Runaways!!

        1. Other shows I listed that aren’t super girly but don’t have to do with time travel are: American Horror Story, Law & Order, Bones, & House! Have you seen any of those? 🙂

              1. I will check AHS. But i can never get into shows where the coroner or anyone on the forensic team go out and do investigations or talk to suspects. Then don’t do those things. They would get fired if they did that in real life. It has just always bugged me so I can’t really watch them.

  2. I loved Gossip Girls! I’ve been a fan of Gilmore Girls since it was on tv so that I loved on Netflix. The ones you love, I haven’t even heard of! I will have to go check them out.
American Horror Story was good until the season with the singer. I just tuned out and haven’t watched since.

  3. Ooh I’ve not heard of Client List or Runaways – they sound interesting! My sister washed Nashville and was hooked, I’m sure I’d enjoy that one too. And One Tree Hill, I’ve never watched it really although I remember the days when it was on TV aha. Ah there’s just too many good shows out there and not enough time to watch them all! xo

    1. You should totally check those two shows out!! They’re both super addicting. Yeah, Nashville seems cheesy but I actually really enjoyed it, lol. You might like it but it’d be understandable if ya didn’t, too.
Oh yes, I’ve loved it since the days it was on TV! You should def give it a shot. 😉 I’ve not watched a single show I’d deem as better than One Tree Hill!

  4. The client list. Watched this from start to end. That show is brilliant. There’s a genius to it that’s unlike most of the shows out there.

One tree hill. College life was consumed by this show…ages me.

Nashville…basically viewing this like I have no other life. It was better back in the first few seasons though. But I hope it picks back up.

    1. Ah!! I’m glad you liked the Client List!! It’s not a super girly show, even though it seems like it. My boyfriend liked it, too. 😉
I’m surprised and excited to know that you enjoyed One Tree Hill & Nashville!! Hehe…

  5. Oooo I definitely have to check out The Client List! I’m almost finished with Black Mirror and I’ll need something else to get into!

I like dark series (think Narcos) or humor (so cliche, but The Office).

Some things I’ve really enjoyed on Netflix have been Unabomber, Mindhunter, The Last Kingdom, Marco Polo and the Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce. I am so happy you like Skins UK also! I always feel like I’m the only American that watched this series and liked it!

    1. I watched the first few episodes of Black Mirror and have been meaning to watch it all from the beginning again! You’d like The Client List, lemme know what ya think of it if you do get to watching it. ;D
I’ve never heard of Narcos but I think I’ve already told ya–I hate The Office, lol. Don’t hate me! :/
The only other show you mentioned that I’ve tried watching was Mindhunter. I couldn’t really get into it but I’ll def have to check out the other ones!! Thanks so much for the recommendations! :D<3
Oh & YESSS…I LOVED Skins UK. Skins US…not so much!

      1. Hahaha, I keep forgetting—you’re the only person I know that doesn’t like The Office. Mindhunter starts off very slowly; it takes a few episodes to really get going. Once they establish the storyline, it gets really good. I’m anticipating the next season! Narcos is SOOOOOO good!!!! Another good series I forgot to mention is Easy. It’s about modern day relationships and all it takes to make them work.

I have The Client List queued up! I’ll definitely let you know!

        1. Ah, hey, my boyfriend doesn’t like The Office either!! I can’t watch shows that start off slowly because I fall asleep… hahaha. I forgot to mention one, too. If you have Hulu… you gotta watch Lie To Me!! It’s so good. It’s a crime show… super fun to watch and try to guess the culprits of each episode!
Easy sounds like a fun show, too. 😀 There are so many shows I need to look up now!!!
          Thanks again! ❤

          Liked by 1 person

    1. Hahha, yes!! I’ve been watching it since I was a little girl. My dad loved it. If you have Hulu… you should watch Lie To Me. The main guy in that show reminds me a little bit of House (the way he acts; not his looks) & I know how you much you enjoy your crime shows!! You would absolutely LOVE Lie To Me!!!

  6. I just searched for One Tree Hill on Netflix when I finished Gossip Girl not too long ago, but Netflix doesn’t have it any more (and I don’t have Hulu). I remember seeing it on the list not too long ago, but oh well. I started watched the newer 90210 and it’s pretty good. I’d recommend it. Also, I’m not sure if it’s still on Netflix or not, but Heart of Dixie was a good one too.

    1. Ah, I heard they removed OTH from Netflix…such a bummer. 😦 I had watched 90210 when it was on TV opposite days of Gossip Girl. I liked the cast because they were all so attractive but I didn’t like the show so much.
I’ve heard of Heart of Dixie! I do want to watch that someday! 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation!

    1. They are kind of girly shows, hehe… You may or may not like them! ;D Hulu was on sale for $5.99/mo when I signed up for it… I think it’s totally worth that price–maybe the sale is still going on? There are a ton of good shows on there. You would really like Runaways, I think. 😀

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Of course they are, is it weird that I hardly watch girly shows? What do they call them? Chick flicks? No, those must be movies. But even then, hardly watch them. I have never seen the notebook either and I’m only reminded of it because my godmother just handed me three books on Friday: the notebook, and two others whose names I have already forgotten but are by the same author lol.
I’ll look into it and see if Alex would be into it too lol. And I like the sound of Runaways, sounds suspenseful 😁

        Liked by 1 person

        1. I had a feeling you don’t really watch girly shows lol that’s why I wasn’t very surprised when you said you hadn’t seen ’em! 😛 It seems you like shows that aren’t so realistic and filled with life’s dramas… I noticed you like more fantasy-ish things… like shows that focus on things that could happen but more than likely won’t (in our lifetime, at least); that’s why I suggested Runaways to you. ;D

I don’t like reading romance novels (chick lit), though… they are SO boring to me but I admit, I do enjoy a good “chick flick” (yes those are movies, lol)! Nicholas Sparks is the author of all of those books. I love the movies I’ve seen of his but have never been able to get into reading any of ’em when I tried. Hope you enjoy them if you end up reading them! ❤

          1. I’m open to seeing some girly shows, I like drama every once in a while, like greys anatomy lol.
And I like fantasy cause it’s different although a lot of fantasy follows son parallels of the real world and that’s why I like them lol. As someone who’s into conspiracy theories, I like noticing when they throw something out there but because it’s a show, everyone thinks it’s fake. It’s not, lol.

I hope I like them too lol. My godmother said I may end up crying haha. We’ll see.

  7. Out of your top 5, I’ve only seen One Tree Hill lol. I’ll have to check out those other shows for sure. I’ll have to make a similar post sometime after I think of some of my favorite full length shows ☺️
