Hi all! Happy December! I’ve compiled this list of my TOP 10 favorite Christmas films for you. Hopefully, you’ve seen them all but if you haven’t…now is the time!!
These are in no specific order.
1. This Christmas (2007)
“This year, Christmas with the Whitfield’s promises to be one they will never forget. All the siblings have come home for the first time in years and they’ve brought plenty of baggage with them. As the Christmas tree is trimmed and the lights are hung, secrets are revealed and family bonds are tested. As their lives converge, they join together and help each other discover the true meaning of family.”
2. Snowglobe (2007)
“A woman who always longed for the perfect Christmas receives a magical snow globe that transports her to a land where every day is the twenty fifth of December in this family-oriented fantasy starring Christina Milian and Lorraine Bracco. When it comes to the holidays, Angela (Milian) would rather be just about anywhere other than home. Upon shaking an antique snow globe that she received as a gift, however, this embittered cynic is whisked away to a magical kingdom where Christmas never ends, and where she will have to choose between the man of her dreams and a love she could have never imagined.”
3. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
“On the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all of the citizens of the town.”
4. The Holiday (2006)
“Iris is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda’s L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris’ handsome brother Graham and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur, mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles.”
5. The Ultimate Christmas Present (2000)
“Two teen girls, Samantha Elizabeth “Sam” Kwan (age 13) (Brenda Song) and Allison Rachel “Allie” Thompson (age 13) (Hallee Hirsh) find a weather machine at a shack in the woods. After learning of its controls, they use it to make it snow in Los Angeles.
It turns out that the weather machine belongs to Santa Claus (John B. Lowe) and he informs Mrs. Claus about this. To help Santa Claus, she sends two elves, Crumpet (John Salley) and Sparky (Bill Fagerbakke).”
6. Jack Frost (1998)
“Jack Frost is the tale of a man who’s trying to be a father, a husband, a breadwinner, and he’s trying to do what he loves to do. Ultimately he realizes that if you don’t pay attention to the people dearest in your life — your family — you could lose it all. Jack, an often-traveling blues musician, has spent little time with his son- then dies in a car accident and then realizes his mortal life mistake of not being there for his son. Then Jack “came to life one day” as a snowman to repair his lost time.”
7. Four Christmases (2008)
“When upscale, happily unmarried San Francisco couple Kate and Brad find themselves socked in by fog on Christmas morning, their exotic vacation plans morph into the family-centric holiday they had, until now, gleefully avoided. Out of obligation–and unable to escape–they trudge to not one, not two, but four relative-choked festivities, increasingly mortified to find childhood fears raised, adolescent wounds reopened and their very future together uncertain. “A woman auditions for a Christmas singing group founded by her late mother, but she loses the spot to a less-talented singer. She then starts her own Christmas singing group and challenges the other group to a sing-off on Christmas Eve.”
9. Just Friends (2005)
“While visiting his hometown during Christmas, a man comes face-to-face with his old high school crush whom he was best friends with — a woman whose rejection of him turned him into a ferocious womanizer.”
10. Unaccompanied Minors (2006)
“A group of unaccompanied minors bond while snowed in at the midwestern Hoover International Airport during the holiday season and ultimately create a makeshift holiday themselves.”
